How we selected the best stand builders in France

There is no official ranking of French stand builders. This editorial selection is based on market observation, each company's public positioning and our own experience of French show floors, using six criteria:

  • Design and brand fit: turning a brand identity into a space that stops visitors in the aisle.
  • Production control: production supervised piece by piece, in the builder's workshop or at selected partner workshops, which drives quality, lead times and late adjustments.
  • Experience of French venues: organisers' technical guides, safety files and build-up logistics in Paris, Lyon, Cannes and the regions.
  • Project management: a single point of contact and a clear schedule.
  • Geographic reach: delivery across France and, where needed, Europe or worldwide.
  • Verifiable references: delivered stands with a named show and year, rather than promises.
💡 Transparency note

This ranking is published by Decore Studio Events, which appears in it. It is editorial, not an official classification, and may vary with each exhibitor's needs. Descriptions of other companies reflect their public positioning: contact several stand builders and compare their references before deciding.

How to choose a stand builder in France as a foreign exhibitor

Venue rules and plan approval

Every French show publishes a technical guide that sets maximum heights, setbacks from neighbouring stands, the share of open sides, and rigging and electrical rules. Exhibition halls are regulated as public buildings, and the organiser appoints a safety officer (chargé de sécurité) who reviews stand plans and inspects stands before opening. Double-decker stands, enclosed areas and suspended structures generally require plans submitted in advance and, for upper floors, a report from an approved inspection body. Hanging points and electricity are usually ordered from the venue's or organiser's official suppliers.

Fire-safety classification of materials

This is where imported stands most often run into trouble. French venues require fire-reaction certificates for stand materials, under the French M classification or its European Euroclass equivalent. M1 or B-s1,d0 is the level commonly required for fabrics, hangings, banners, velums and decorative elements, while structures, wall panels and floor coverings have their own minimum class in the show's technical guide. The safety officer can ask for the certificates on site; materials without valid French or European reports may have to be fireproofed on the spot or removed.

⚠️ Common mistake

Shipping a stand built abroad without fire-reaction certificates recognised in France. A fabric certified only to a non-European standard can be refused at the pre-opening inspection. Gather the certificates for every material before shipping.

Build-up and dismantling windows

Build-up at French shows is short and strictly timed: typically two to five days for large custom stands, sometimes less at smaller events, and dismantling usually has to be finished within one or two days after closing. Delivery slots, forklift bookings and working hours are set by the organiser. A builder that supervises production close to the venues can pre-assemble and test the stand, then arrive with a crew that knows the halls.

Language, logistics and project management

Technical files, safety exchanges and on-site coordination with venue staff happen largely in French, so a single project manager handling them for you avoids misunderstandings on deadlines, services and inspections. For non-EU exhibitors, goods and demonstration equipment brought in temporarily can travel under an ATA carnet, and if your home-country builder sends its own crew, French posted-worker formalities apply. A builder that designs, manages production and installs in France removes most of these steps, along with the transport, customs and storage costs of shipping a stand from abroad. Read our guides on what a stand builder does and on choosing among exhibition stand companies.

How much does an exhibition stand cost in France in 2026?

The budget depends on floor space, height, finishes, audiovisual equipment and whether the stand will be reused. As a guide, these are the ranges we see for stand construction in France:

Stand formatGuide budget (construction)Ideal for
Modular standFrom €600 per m²Exhibiting several times a year at a controlled cost
Custom (bespoke) stand€600 to €1,500 per m²A unique brand image with premium materials
Double-decker standOn requestDoubling usable space without renting more floor

Indicative prices for design, fabrication and installation, excluding floor space, venue services (electricity, hanging points, cleaning) and transport.

As an order of magnitude, a 50 m² custom stand represents roughly €30,000 to €75,000 of construction. The price per m² also depends on the floor space: it is easier to negotiate on a 100 m² stand than on an 18 m² one. If you exhibit every year, a reusable modular trade show booth lowers the cost per show, while a double-decker exhibition stand suits large plots where meeting space is at a premium. Our guide to exhibition stand cost details each line of a quote.

💡 Good to know

A quote that looks 30% cheaper often leaves out transport, build-up, on-site assistance or dismantling. Ask every stand builder for a line-by-line breakdown to compare like with like.
